Our History

1972: The original Tebay Services opens on the M6.

1976: Tebay Services Hotel opened. Its restaurant serves home-cooked food to enjoy alongside beautiful views of the surrounding fells. Over the next 10 years, a Caravan Park and Truckstop joined the fold, just down the road from Tebay Services.

2000: We opened a 90,000 square foot visitor attraction hidden under a grass roof just a few miles from Penrith. Today the Rheged Centre is home to a gallery, shops and cafes plus an IMAX-style cinema screen.

2004: Tebay Services saw the opening of our two Farmshops followed by a Butchery selling beef and lamb produced on the family farm.

2014: We opened Gloucester Services Northbound. The opportunity to open Gloucester Services came from Mark Gale, CEO of Gloucestershire Gateway Trust, who wanted to find a means of creating sustainable income and job opportunities for local communities.

2015: A year later Gloucester Services Southbound opened with the addition of a motorway fishmonger! Both north and southbound were officially opened by HRH Prince of Wales on 28 July 2015.

2015: We took on Cairn Lodge Services, south of Glasgow. Following the original model of Tebay Services, Cairn Lodge prides itself on serving good, homemade food and selling quality produce in its Farmshop.
